Thowbe, from the Arabic :ثَوْب "garment", also spelled thaub, thawb, thobe, tobe, is an ankle-length robe commonly worn by men in the Middle East, Arabian Peninsula and other neighboring countries and some countries in Africa.
The styles of Thowbes varies among the regions, as well as the name: it's also known as Jubba (India), Jallabiya (Sudan, Egypt), Kandura (UAE, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya), Dishdashah (Kuwait, Iraq and Oman), Thowbe (Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Bahrain, Qatar and Palestine)
The style of the thawb varies slightly among the various regions in the area. The sleeves and the collar can be stiffened to give a more formal appearance.
